UK engineering graduates struggling

Almost a quarter not in graduate jobs

DESPITE widespread claims that there are shortages of engineering graduates, new figures from the UK show that many cannot find work as engineers.

A surprising 20% are working in graduate jobs unrelated to their degree course, while 24% are working in jobs which do not require any graduate qualifications, such as sales (12%), administrative roles (5%) and as waiting staff in restaurants.
