New Technical Director for CBA

Douglas Leech (45) has been appointed as the new Technical Director of the Chemical Business Association (CBA) - the organisation representing the UK chemical supply chain.

He has been the CBA’s Technical Manager since 2003 providing advice and assistance to its member companies on legal, regulatory and compliance issues as well as representing the industry on several official bodies.

CBA’s Chairman, Dr Neville Prior, said, “This is a very well-deserved promotion. Douglas has served the CBA and its member companies with dedication for several years and has become recognised by regulatory authorities as an authoritative and effective representative of the industry both in the UK and Europe.”

Douglas Leech holds a degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Northumbria. He is a Chartered Chemist, a Chartered Scientist, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, an Associate of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, and is a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.

During his career in the chemical industry, he has held a range of technical, scientific and safety appointments, with Kalon Chemicals, Applied Chemicals, and Solvitol Limited.  He was also Technical Health and Safety Manager for Meristem plc responsible for product development, quality, technical service as well as environmental, health and safety functions.
