Laboratory Technician vacancy at Nanoco
Competitive compensation package; Runcorn and Manchester, UK
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will support our scientists by helping to provide safe, smooth running and well organised laboratories as part of a small technical team. You will be expected to communicate internally and with suppliers to ensure equipment and chemicals are available for use as required.
Duties will include: general laboratory housekeeping and cleaning, managing and cleaning of glassware, managing waste solvents and waste solvents collection, monitoring/maintaining laboratory chemicals, solvents and consumables supplies, monitoring stock levels, taking deliveries, arranging shipments, carrying out maintenance and calibration of equipment, QC checks and materials analysis. There will also be the opportunity to directly support Production Chemists in some production and analysis work, depending on skills and experience.
You should have at least A-level or HNC/HND qualifications in chemistry or relevant science subject. You should also have proven practical skills in equipment maintenance (electrical/electronic and mechanical) in a laboratory or similar environment. Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Email and Internet) and industry experience are a must.
You should also have excellent organisational skills and be able to change priorities at short notice and work to tight deadlines. Good interpersonal skills are needed, enabling you to operate successfully in a multi-disciplinary/cross-functional team. You will need the ability to learn quickly and work both independently and in a team with minimum supervision.
