Member news - Investors in People Award for Sandvik

Halesowen based Sandvik Materials Technology UK, has successfully renewed its Investors in People Award and passed with flying colours.

Sandvik Materials Technology is a manufacturer and distributor of advanced stainless steels, special alloys, titanium and other high performance materials with 130 locations throughout the world.

A firm believer and advocate of Investors in People, the company achieved its qualifying award back in 2004 and has since gone from strength to strength with the programme.

“We are continually looking to improve our organisation for the benefit of our customers and our employees,” explained Haydn Eagle, Sandvik UK Market Manager. “The assessment helps us to do this, identifying areas of effective practice and suggests potential areas of improvement. We have always achieved consistently well with our assessments, but it is significantly gratifying to have been reviewed and passed to a very high standard.”

“It is all credit to all our employees for their hard work in what has been a difficult trading time and it shows that we have not simply rested on our laurels since our last assessment. As a company, we are always looking to improve and find best practice.”

This was emphasised by Kevin Burden, Manager of Sandvik’s UK Distribution Centre, “Since its introduction Investors in People has promoted the Sandvik ethos of coaching and mentoring to get the very best from people and the teams in which they work. We have consistently invested time and resources in our people much to the benefit of the organisation, so it is particularly fitting that the company has now been reviewed and regained its IIP award.”
