Growth fund tour - advice on how to tap into funding
A series of roadshows has been launched to give businesses advice on how to tap into the next round of funding from the government's Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
The first event was held in Margate, Kent, yesterday where Lord Heseltine encouraged bidders to compete for a share of £950m.
Lord Heseltine, the chairman of the panel which decides where funds go, spoke about economic growth and the role of the RGF in creating jobs and stimulating growth.
The roadshow arrived in Preston on 17 May. It will also host events in East Midlands, York, Newcastle, Dudley and Plymouth.
Lord Heseltine said: "The RGF was exceptionally popular in the first round, and we received many bids that demonstrated strategic thinking on how to create jobs and contribute to local economies.
"I hope businesses and public-private partnerships are inspired to think about innovative and creative ways of making a difference to growth and shaping their economic future, and that we will see results of this thinking when we are assessing bids.
"The roadshows are an excellent opportunity for potential bidders to find out more information about ensuring bids meet the objectives and criteria. I urge all those interested to ask questions, and get as much out of these events as possible."
The second round of the RGF opened to bids on 12 April and will close at midday on 1 July. It will aim to allocate about £950m – the bulk of the £1.4bn fund.
