Catalyst Announcement

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the departure of Julie Burgess-Wilson (Jules) as CEO and Director of Catalyst.  Jules has been responsible for changing the fortunes of Catalyst along with former Chairman Dr Tony Bastock OBE from near closure in 2004 to the thriving regional Science Centre it is today.

Since that time Jules has delivered funds in excess of £1.5m in capital and revenue funding, not least successfully leading and delivering the bid of £653k to Millennium ReDiscover, to transform the Education centre with state of the art facilities and cutting edge technology and to lead and deliver the recent ERDF bid of £631k and establish a successful delivery programme for the project.

Whilst in Jules’ tenure Catalyst has been the recipient of several prestigious awards from the Cheshire and Warrington Tourism Board for Team of the year, the Chemicals Industry Association award for ‘Promoting Science and Engineering to Future Generations’, Visit England’s VAQAS award, the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, the Museums, Libraries and Archives ( MLA) accreditation and most recently the Halton Tourism Team of the year 2010.

The Trust wishes to thank Jules for her passion and commitment and relentless pursuit of funds and support for Catalyst and wishes her well in her future career.

Bryan Davies, Chairman of the Board says “Jules leaving Catalyst marks the end of an era; she has led the excellent team at Catalyst for more than 5 years, enabled the successful upgrading of the educational facilities, ensured Catalyst continued to be recognised with a number of high profile awards and laid the base for ongoing future development.  I wish her well in her new ventures and  am sure she will have similar success”.
