Chemistry Innovation KTN

Chemicals Northwest pioneered the development of a network aimed at developing innovation in an integrated manner, resulting in the announcement by DTI in 2005 that one of the new Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTN’s) would be in Chemistry, based in the Northwest. Launched officially in March 2006, and headed by former Chemicals Northwest CEO Carol Boyer-Spooner, Chemistry Innovation’s business base is co-located alongside Chemicals Northwest and also Britest ( www.britest.co.uk ) in the ‘Chemistry Hub’ in The Heath, Runcorn. This powerful partnership sees a national innovation focus matched to a regional industry one, aligning agendas within industry, academia and Government.

Chemistry Innovation has contributed to the business support simplification agenda with the incorporation of 3 former Faraday organizations (Impact, Crystal and Insight), which offered complementary skills and advice. Chemistry Innovation and Chemicals Northwest (who participate in CI’s Regional Stakeholder Forum or RSF) can help UK and NW industry to bring products and processes to market more quickly, essential in today’s global market place. Collaborative projects are now emerging, including an inventory of capability across industry and academia.

Innovation success through the pillars of Collaboration, Sustainability, Advanced Manufacturing and Government Influence drive the focus of Chemistry Innovation.
