Synopsis:

Whether you are developing a new product, or have been manufacturing for years, achieving financial and technical targets while reducing the overall environmental impact can be a challenge. But the pressures from consumers and legislation continue to intensify and sustainability has now become a key market driver for product innovation, and a genuine opportunity for all kinds of businesses. This presentation will address sustainable design: context, implementation and opportunities, looking at:

-          Drivers, costs and product strategy

-          Life-cycle thinking (including LCA & carbon footprinting)

-          Material selection, design optimisation & manufacturing processes

-          End-of-life strategies

-          Promotion and labelling

The session will make use of case studies to introduce key concepts, tools & resources in this exciting and dynamic field.
